Keene Sentinel: Blunt McCain
“[O]ne candidate has turned his face to the fire. John McCain says the United States can’t just leave Iraq to its own resources. Not yet. He contends that halting progress is being made there, and he insists that the recent U.S. military escalation be given a chance to work.” — Keene [NH] Sentinel Editorial

Is McCain Back? The Underdog Fights On
John McCain has been campaigning in New Hampshire for months, but when he took the stage last week at a town-hall meeting in Keene, it felt like a reunion tour. Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” pumped on the sound system, and when the onetime GOP presidential front runner arrived, many of the 200 people packed in the room leapt to their feet, cheering. McCain railed against partisanship in Washington and attacked the free-spending ways of his own party. “It’s getting harder to do the work of the Lord in the city of Satan,” he said, prompting laugher and applause. A few feet away, a handmade campaign sign hung on the wall: THE MAC IS BACK!

John McCain In Manchester
And so the McCain for President reclamation project begins early the morning of July 25 in the lobby of a law firm here. He’s back home at the site of his greatest political triumph — his win over George W. Bush in the New Hampshire primary seven years ago. It was here where Mr. Straight Talk Express shook hands with everyone and won over the press. It was here where he was happy.

McCain sticks to his guns
It was an upbeat John McCain, in a Greenville Drive forest green jersey adorned with what he hopes will be his magic number ó ‘08 ó talking about a Republican presidential campaign that for his part, has had a rocky history of late.
Sitting outside the owner’s box while the Drive enjoyed a fleeting lead Friday night, McCain downplayed recent troubles and spoke in terms of a candidacy that has hit a speed bump or two, not a roadblock.

The McCain Update - July 27, 2007
John McCain had an action-packed week filled with endorsements, a policy speech and stops in three crucial early voting states. Sen. McCain started the week in Louisiana picking up the endorsement of Former Governor Buddy Roemer before stopping in the first caucus state, Iowa, for a leadership meeting. He then traveled to Michigan to address the Southwest Michigan Economic Club on economic policy before moving on to New Hampshire for a “Meet The Candidates” forum and town halls with voters in that early primary state. John McCain continues his swing through the early states this weekend when he visits South Carolina to catch the Greenville Drive take on the Charleston Riverdogs in a Minor League Baseball game. He’ll also visit voters in Greenville, Spartanburg and Aiken.
Following the weekend in South Carolina, John McCain will be in Washington for an event with Young Professionals for McCain before heading to Palo Alto, California for a “New Captains of Innovation” Fireside Chat at Stanford University. If McCain Is History, So Is the Republican Party
If McCain Is History, So Is the Republican Party. That’s the line inside the Republican Party about its former frontrunner for the presidential nomination, John McCain. No name, not even Ron Paul, elicits the snort of contempt you get when you utter that of the senator from Arizona to a Republican operative.

John McCain Addresses the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan
John McCain addresses the Economic Club of Southwest MI:
Thank you for inviting me to talk with you about that great engine of opportunity and prosperity — the American economy. Two words summarize my remarks about the American Economy: Freedom works. Freedom works for everyone, and only through freedom has America achieved what was once thought impossible — a system in which ordinary people with ordinary abilities can create for themselves extraordinary lives. We have showed the world that power and wealth are the product of freedom and free market principles and not the other way around — the freedom to pursue your aspirations, to seize your opportunities, to rise as far as your own industry and imagination will take you, to make a better life for your children than you inherited, and to build together a civilization for the ages, in which all people share in the promise and responsibilities of liberty.

The McCain Update - July 20, 2007
Early this week, John McCain kept up his campaign momentum with a swing through New Hampshire for a series of Town Hall meetings with primary voters. He then flew cross-country to California to address a business forum in Silicon Valley before hopping a plane back to Washington where he participated in the Senate slumber party. Giving a rousing speech in support of our servicemen and women at 3:45 in the morning, John remarked, “I have one responsibility that outweighs all the others - and that is to do everything in my power, to use whatever meager talents I possess, and every resource God has granted me to protect the security of this great and good nation from all enemies foreign and domestic. And that I intend to do.”
Next week, look for John to address the Southwest Michigan Economic Club, where he will deliver his message of fiscal responsibility and government reform. He’ll then head to New Hampshire to participate in a “Meet The Candidates” forum with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. Where Can I Donate To McCain’s Campaign?
I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve been a bit childish over the years in expressing my disdain for Senator John McCain. I’ve ridiculed countless times his signature legislative accomplishment in regulating campaign freedom. I’ve made spiteful comments about his priorities and goals. I’ve even (and most recently) had fun at his expense as his Presidential campaign goes off the rails.
